POLICY

 

Environment and Energy
Chair: Mark E-Emmanuel, Union Gas Ltd.

Promotes awareness of environmental and energy issues within the business community and the community at large through research and recommendations in matters of environment and energy related legislation at the municipal, provincial and national level. The committee encourages ethical and environmentally responsible business decision-making amongst Chamber members with respect to the purchasing, manufacturing, recycling, and resource conservation.

Responsible for research, makes recommendations and lobbies for business friendly taxation and finance-related legislation at the municipal, provincial and federal government levels.

Government Relations Policy Committee
Chair: Matt Marchand, Continental Rail Gateway

Oversees the Chamber’s policy and advocacy programs, developing and communicating chamber positions that fall outside the realm of the other three policy committee areas, advocating for business-friendly legislation at the municipal, provincial and federal government levels.

Transportation Policy Committee
Chair: Paul LeFave, Border Freight Resources


Works regularly on transportation related isssues in Windsor, Essex County, Ontario, Canada and the United States. Items related to supply and competition, framework legislation for industry, infrastructure investments, airports, highways, ports, railways and border crossings are priorities for this Committee.

Membership Services and Development
Chair: Terence Toohey, Aramark Canada, Ltd.

Working in partnership with the Windsor and Essex County business community and related organizations and agencies to enhance the effectiveness of the Chamber in the development and delivery of value-added services to the membership and significantly expand the membership in Windsor and Essex County.

The Committee plans and executes five successful networking and mini trade show forums. This venue allows member locations and sponsors the opportunity to highlight their facility, services and programs.

Chair: Sharon Coburn, Sylectus, A Division of GPSNet Technologies Inc

This Committee works to ensure this annual gala event continues to recognize and honour businesses and individuals who achieve “excellence” for themselves and our community.

Chairman’s Ball

This Task Force, executes and implements a prestigious "ball" that attracts a high quality business audience that serves as an annual dedicated revenue generating source for the Chamber.

Golf Tournament

The Committee begins planning this event in December and works eagerly to the mid June date. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and network with members and their guests. The fact that it is a sold out event each year proves how hard they work at ensuring its success.
